The CGST & Central Excise, Ujjain Commissionerate was carved out from erstwhile Indore & Gwalior Commissionerates vide Notification No. 13/2017- Central Excise (N.T.) dated 09.06.2017 read with notification No. 17/2017-Central Excise (N.T.) dated 19.06.2017 issued by the Government of India, Ministry of Finance, New Delhi specifying the jurisdiction of Central Tax Commissionerates & Zones. Vide this notification Ujjain Commissionerate in Madhya Pradesh has been designated as the CGST & Central Excise Commissionerate (w.e.f 01.07.2017), in place of Gwalior. It falls in the jurisdiction of Chief Commissioner, CGST & Central Excise, Bhopal.
